DomainKeys Identified Mail, or DKIM, is a method for verifying the authenticity of an email message by using a digital signature. When DomainKeys Identified Mail is activated for a particular domain, a public encryption key is published to the global DNS database and a private one is kept on the email server. When a new message is sent, a signature is generated using the private key and when the message is received, that signature is validated by the receiving server using the public key. In this way, the receiver can easily discern if the message is authentic or if the sender’s address has been forged. A mismatch will occur if the content of the email has been altered in the meantime as well, so DomainKeys Identified Mail can also be used to make sure that the sent and the delivered email messages are identical and that nothing has been added or deleted. This authentication system will increase your email security, as you can confirm the legitimacy of the important email messages that you receive and your partners can do likewise with the messages that you send them. Depending on the given mail service provider’s adopted policy, an email message that fails the test may be removed or may end up in the recipient’s inbox with a warning notification.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Shared Website Hosting

When you purchase one of the shared website hosting that we are offering, the DomainKeys Identified Mail option will be enabled by default for any domain that you register under your hosting account, so you will not have to create any records or to do anything manually. When a domain name is added in the Hosted Domains section of our custom-made Hepsia Control Panel using our NS and MX records (so that the email messages associated with this domain will be handled by our cloud hosting platform), a private cryptographic key will be issued straight away on our mail servers and a TXT record with a public key will be sent to the Domain Name System. All email addresses set up with this domain will be protected by DomainKeys Identified Mail, so if you send out email messages such as regular newsletters, they will reach their target audience and the recipients will be sure that they are authentic, since the DKIM feature makes it impossible for unsolicited parties to forge your addresses.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Semi-dedicated Servers

The DomainKeys Identified Mail functionality comes by default with any domain that is registered through a semi-dedicated server account with us. It must also use our name servers, so that its DNS resource records are handled by our platform. The latter makes it possible for a special TXT resource record to be set up, which is actually the public encryption key that verifies if a certain email is authentic or not. Such a record is created when a brand-new domain name is added to a semi-dedicated hosting account via the Hepsia Control Panel and at the same time, a private key is created on our email servers. If you make use of our email and web hosting services, your emails will always reach their target audience and you won’t have to worry about unsolicited people forging your addresses for spamming or scamming purposes, which is something pretty important if you use emails to communicate with your business associates.
