Established in 1987, Italy’s dot IT ccTLD is quite popular both within the country and in the English-speaking world. The reason is that the domain is a pronoun, which can be used for building inventive and attractive domain names – write.it, youcanmake.it and so on. This is a way to create an easy-to-learn domain name, so that it will be easier for your visitors to return to your website or to share it with colleagues and fellows. The extension can also be used for a website, which is linked to the technology sector given that IT is an abbreviation, which is known around the world.

Given that dot IT domains are not sold directly by IT-NIC, the Registry that handles this top-level extension, such a domain can be registered through a 3rd-party domain service provider, such as ours. Since there are existing Second-Level Domains that include names of different areas and localities in Italy reserved for local third-level registrations, new names that consist of geographical areas of any kind are not allowed on any level to avoid any future confusion.
